Fear and loathing in New Mexico at ‘Breaking Bad Character Portraits’

Posted at 5:00 pm, February 13, 2015 in Arts & Entertainment

As if ‘Breaking Bad’ itself weren’t already a staggering piece of art, it’s now getting its own exhibition of art: ‘Breaking Bad Character Portraits’. Plus, it’s all been created by the artist behind the illustrations in the book ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’: Ralph Steadman. Possibly you can spot the link.

There’ll be a number of portraits of characters from ‘BB’ (the clue’s in the exhibition’s name), plus a selection of ‘BB’-inspired artwork by rising UK artists personally selected by Steadman. Quite what work ‘inspired’ by the show means, we’re not sure (Antony Gormley-esque nude statues of Walter White wandering into a supermarket? A rain room featuring chunks of Wayfarer airplane falling from the sky?). Still, you’ll see us there. We imagine it’ll cook.

‘Breaking Bad Character Portraits by Ralph Steadman’, Fri Feb 13, 10am-6pm, Sat Feb 14–Sun Feb 15 noon-6pm at The Gallery, 71a Leonard Street, EC2A 4QS
