A pop-up restaurant with a difference set up shop in Elephant & Castle for four days in February – and it proved so popular that it’s coming back for seconds in April. Secret Kitchen is the brainchild of 2nd Chance – a programme that helps unemployed 18-24 year-olds into work through on-the-job training. As well as learning to run the pop-up themselves, participants were given training by volunteer chefs and front-of-house staff from Richmond restaurant The Bingham, with ingredients sourced from surplus food redistribution charity Fareshare.
Tickets for the next event can be booked at 2ndchancelondon.org.uk. It’s all in the name of charidee.
