Normally, when we report on crowdfunding it’s some hip young entrepreneur drumming up cash for another kooky London business or art project. You know, cat cafés and the like. But here’s something a bit different. After numerous cuts to their budget, the publicly funded Reprezent Radio is facing closure – and they need your help.
The station has set up an Indiegogo page to raise the £25,000 it needs to continue broadcasting. Contribute as little as £5 to the fund and you could get a shout out from a presenter and a song dedication. Or if you feel like digging deeper, £1,000 bags you a live performance from a DJ or presenter at an event of your choice.
So why should you bother chipping in? Well, Reprezent (aka the Sound of Young London) is a vital supporter of urban talent – uncovering artists like Stormzy and Novelist – and provides employment opportunities and skills to thousands of young people. Don’t let them mute the yoot, y’all.
