See the secret plans to turn ArcelorMittal Orbit into a GIANT SLIDE

Posted at 6:15 pm, May 22, 2015 in Fun London

It’s a confirmed true and infallible fact that the ArcelorMittal Orbit looks like a hi-tech helter skelter. In fact, we’re sure we’re not the only slide fans who felt sinking disappointment back in 2012 when we learned that it was just a sculpture and not actually a helter skelter at all. 🙁

But it’s finally happened, destiny has been fulfilled; secret plans for a GIANT SLIDE to snake its way around the ArcelorMittal Orbit have been submitted to the folks in charge of the Olympic Park. This mean we might soon be able slide aaaalllll the way down the sculpture from a height of 120 metres, looping around the sculpture five times before descending to the ground.

Bblur, the Marylebone architects’ firm whose name appears on the official drawings, haven’t commented on the proposal but it’s already reached stage one of the planning process with park managers. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for MAXIMUM SLIDE FUN.

And if it doesn’t happen? There’s the slip’n’slide that’s potentially, maybe, probably not, on its way – and of course, the Hayward Gallery’s twin slides open on the South Bank in June.

Fancy some more childish fun? Here are some London activities that children will love.
