There’s not a lot you can’t do in London – the fact that we’ve got multiple cafés dedicated to cereal pretty much says it all. But there’s one thing we don’t have and that’s a GIANT WATERSLIDE.
We’ve long been lamenting the lack of a giant slip ‘n’ slide in the capital and last summer we put out a plea for someone to just get it together and make it happen. Back in December, we thought our dreams were finally coming true after a mysterious company called City Slide announced that they were bringing a 500-metre slide to London… but we’re still waiting on that one.
But now, there’s a new a new giant slide in town and it looks like it might actually happen. A student events company called University Socials has created a Facebook event with the promise of an ‘epic’ 200-300-metre slide coming to London this summer. Here’s what we know so far:
➪ Dates aren’t confirmed, but the organisers are planning a two-day event on the last weekend in July or the first weekend in August.
➪ The slide was originally planned for Hampstead Heath but they are now considering different venues because it might be ‘an administrative nightmare with the council’.
➪ The organisers say they’re currently in talks with an ‘incredible country house on the outskirts of London’. They’re hoping to confirm the venue either today or tomorrow, so stand by for more slide-related news.
➪ The attending list on Facebook is currently at 43,000 people – so they’re going to need a pretty big slide…
